Amado Surf Camp was built by locals, born and raised in Carrapateira. Coming from a family of fishermen, the ocean has always been part of our lives. Long before surfing became popular on this coast, we were already spending our days in the water, learning to read the wind, the tides, and the waves.
The idea to start a surf camp came from wanting to share what we knew and to build something of our own here at home. In the beginning, we had very little. No big investment, no outside backing, just hard work, belief, and a deep connection to this place. Step by step, season by season, our camp grew.
Over the years, we have welcomed complete beginners, returning surfers, solo travellers, couples, and groups of friends. Many come back again, sometimes bringing their own friends, sometimes years later with partners or children. Watching that happen is one of the things we are most proud of.
Amado Surf Camp is built on simple values. Stay honest. Keep improving. Respect the ocean. Make sure people leave with real progress and a genuine experience of this coastline.

Our head instructor and school owner are also certified to coach surf instructors, ensuring high standards across the team at all times. We are proud to offer world class surf instruction right here in Carrapateira.

Our Locations
Located right on Amado Beach, we offer private and group lessons with our licensed coaches (equipment included), as well as softboard rentals.
If you want to stay closer to nature and wide open beaches. It is a small, laid back village with a strong local feel, surrounded by cliffs and long sandy stretches. Ideal if you are looking for a quiet, relaxed atmosphere.
If you prefer a bit more going on in the evenings. It is a lively surf town with more cafés, restaurants, and a slightly busier feel, while still being close to beautiful beaches and great waves.
